Harrison Drury appoints agricultural specialist

Northern law firm Harrison Drury has expanded its rural practice with the appointment of agricultural law specialist June Higgins as associate solicitor.

Based at the firm’s Clitheroe office, June will advise clients across the North West and Yorkshire on agricultural property matters.

She joins from Napthens, where she spent four-and-a-half years as part of its rural team, and is a member of the Agricultural Law Association.

June has also been involved in organising industry events, including the North West Next Generation Rural Professionals Forum.

In her new role, she will help develop Harrison Drury’s rural events programme while strengthening relationships with farmers, landowners and professional advisers across the region.

June said: “Harrison Drury felt like the right fit for me because I believe they listen and invest in their people and this shows in their continued growth across the region. 

“Being able to continue developing my career close to home, within the rural communities I support, is really important to me.

“I am passionate about the agricultural sector, especially providing farming families and businesses with legal support in succession planning and their legal needs.

“I’m looking forward to maintaining existing relationships and utilising my experience of organising events to help us bring people together across the rural sector and share expertise and make new and renew existing connections in Lancashire and Yorkshire.”

Her appointment comes amid increased focus on farm succession, access to land and the long-term resilience of farming businesses.

Harrison Drury employs more than 200 people across nine offices and recently achieved its highest level of recognition in the Legal 500, with 13 teams ranked and 50 lawyers individually recommended.

The latest appointment adds further specialist expertise to its Clitheroe operation as the firm continues to develop its services for the rural community.
