Freeths expands national tax team

National law firm Freeths, headquartered in Nottingham, has appointed Heather Gibson as partner in its tax team, strengthening its expertise across corporate, private equity and real estate taxation.

Heather joins from Addleshaw Goddard and brings nearly 20 years’ experience advising on the tax aspects of corporate transactions, private equity investments, management buyouts and cross-border matters.

Her expertise includes acquisitions, disposals, restructurings and investment transactions, alongside significant experience in Scottish real estate taxation and devolved land taxes.

She has advised on developments spanning purpose-built student accommodation, build-to-rent and mixed-use schemes and is a member of the Law Society of Scotland’s Tax Committee and Chartered Institute of Taxation’s Scottish Technical Committee.

At Freeths, Heather will work alongside its corporate, real estate and banking and finance teams on transactional and property tax matters across the UK.

Heather’s arrival follows the appointment of David Smith as partner and joint head of tax in Leeds in July as Freeths continues to expand its national tax practice.
