Coffee firm eyes growth with 'perfect' HQ switch

A coffee company is aiming to grind out fresh growth following a near six-figure headquarters move.

Rounton Coffee has switched to a 6000sq ft Teesside hub.

Bosses say the site – on Teesside Industrial Estate, in Thornaby, near Stockton-on-Tees – will help double production and create jobs.

They add the base – which stands three times larger than the company’s former headquarters at The Granary, near Northallerton, North Yorkshire – will bolster storage and production processes, and help progress plans to deliver coffee education sessions, barista training and equipment demonstrations.

David Beattie, who left behind a career in chemical engineering to found the company in 2013 following a visit to Sumatra, said the move will “build a business fit for the future”.

He said: “The Granary was a fantastic chapter in our story, and it will always hold a special place in our hearts.

“But there came a point where every inch was being utilised, and we simply couldn’t fit any more into the space.

“So many of our team already live in Teesside, and the new site will allow us to invest back into an area that's long championed the business.”

David said the firm’s new home will also allow it to build on a six-figure commercial roaster investment and recent headline supply deals, which have seen it send products to customers in Ireland and the Outer Hebrides.

He added: “The new site brings everything under one roof.

“It means we can pretty much grow every part of the business – be it production, staffing, training or the warehouse – without needing more costly upgrades.

“It gives us the perfect base to grow over the next decade, without needing to move again.”
