MD Law promotes insolvency solicitor

Sheffield-based law firm MD Law has promoted Josh Stilgoe to associate in its insolvency team, six years after he first joined the practice on a university work placement.

Josh began working at the Broomhall firm in 2020 during his final year at Sheffield Hallam University, gaining experience across several departments through its Law in Practice programme.

He subsequently completed his training contract at MD Law, undertaking placements in dispute resolution, insolvency, commercial and corporate law.

After qualifying as a solicitor in March 2023, he joined the firm's insolvency team, advising on insolvency matters and related litigation.

His promotion to associate took effect on October 1, recognising his progression from student placement to qualified solicitor and now a more senior role within the practice.

Founded 11 years ago by Matthew Dixon, MD Law employs 20 people and advises businesses and individuals on corporate law, business recovery, insolvency, litigation, commercial property, healthcare and employment matters.

Its insolvency team supports insolvency practitioners, businesses and individuals with investigations, claims, restructuring, business recovery and personal insolvency matters.

Matthew said: “Josh’s promotion to associate solicitor rewards how he has demonstrated competence, taken responsibility, and made a real contribution to the firm.

“This promotion marks a significant career milestone for Josh.

“Our successful employee training and development programme continues to deliver highlighting that successful long‑term progression and substantive legal roles can come from early exposure to the firm and continued hard work.”
