Browne Jacobson appoints healthcare partner
UK and Ireland law firm Browne Jacobson, headquartered in Nottingham, has strengthened its health and life sciences practice with the appointment of David Hill as a partner.
David joins from Blake Morgan, bringing extensive experience advising public and private healthcare organisations on legal and policy matters, including the adoption of new medicines, technologies and service models.
His clients have included NHS bodies, independent healthcare providers and HealthTech companies across the UK, Europe and North America.
Having begun his legal career in-house at Health and Social Care Northern Ireland, David subsequently qualified as an English solicitor and has worked across the North West and South East.
He has also advised local authorities, government departments and regulatory bodies, including the Information Commissioner’s Office.
His experience includes several secondments to NHS England, where he worked on health devolution, organisational change and the development of integrated care systems.
More recently, his work has increasingly focused on the evaluation and introduction of new medicines and health technologies, including AI-enabled medical devices.
David said: “Browne Jacobson has an outstanding reputation for advising clients at the most complex and consequential end of health service commissioning and delivery, which is exactly where I have spent my career.
“The digital transformation of health services, and the adoption of new medicines and technologies, raises genuinely novel legal questions that cut across public law, regulation, privacy and governance.
“The firm's breadth across those disciplines, and its deep relationships across both the NHS and the independent health and care sector, means it is uniquely placed to help clients navigate that landscape.”
David joins a practice advising more than 300 health and life sciences clients, including NHS trusts, integrated care boards, government organisations and private healthcare providers.
Gerard Hanratty, partner and head of health and life sciences at Browne Jacobson, added: “David is an exceptional addition to our team and brings a rare combination of policy insight, regulatory expertise, and deep practical experience of the NHS.
“His track record – from primary legislation and medicines regulation through to the deployment of AI-enabled health technologies – is precisely what our clients working at the forefront of tackling society’s biggest issues need as the digital transformation of health services accelerates.”
