Gareth Tancred has been the CEO of the British Institute of Facilities Management since February 2012, a role which he has served on an Acting then Interim basis since October 2011. Prior to this appointment he had been COO of the Institute since August 1 2009. During his two years as COO he oversaw the running of the Institute, deputised for the CEO and oversaw changes to the Constitution to professionalise the BIFM. He has over 12 years’ experience at Board level, ranging from SMEs to large UK, European and international organisations, along with an extensive portfolio as an Executive Director. As part of his Board and senior management roles, Gareth has been responsible for numerous property portfolios and facilities management. In 1994 Gareth became a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). He has been a member of the Institute of Directors (IoD) since 2000, and qualified as an Accountant in 1992.
