Redcar businesses get downturn boost
Businesses across Redcar & Clevleand are to be offered a helping hand to beat the credit crunch at an event this week.
The Business Boost event, organised by Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council with the support of the Enterprise Team and a wide range of partners, aims to ease the impact of the economic downturn on local businesses.
Taking place on Wednesday 28 January, the event will feature advice and guidance on topics such as access to finance, mentoring, business health checks, regulatory support, and recruitment and training.
The Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Mark Hannon, said: “There’s no doubt these are difficult times and we want to ensure that local businesses are aware of the support that exists and how to access it if it’s relevant to them.”
“This is an ideal opportunity for businesses to drop in, find out about the support on offer and network with other businesses.”
The Council is planning to run further similar events across the borough to keep businesses up to date with the changing packages of support.
Councillor Hannon said: “In recent months our staff have noted an increase in the numbers of businesses who are experiencing difficulties. I believe the issue is more complicated than simply blaming the credit crunch and that’s why we as a Council have been looking at a package of possible improvements for businesses over some time.”
The Business Boost event takes place at the South Tees Business Centre, Puddlers Road, South Bank, from 10am to 2pm on Wednesday 28 January. For more information email routes2@redcar-cleveland.gov.uk or call 01642 442992.
