University debates flexible working

A Newcastle University Business School round table debate discussing flexible working practises is taking place this week.

Held in partnership with Newcastle law practice Muckle LLP, the event on Thursday evening will involve ten of the region’s commercial and academic experts on the subject. The event is designed to give a practical perspective into the impact of this modern working practise.

Kay Jones, Marketing Director at Newcastle University Business School, said: “We are very fortunate to get such a broad cross section of academics and practitioners as panellists which will, I’m sure, make for a lively and informative discussion.

“Flexible working can be an emotive subject and it will be interesting to see how the application of the theory has translated in the real world and what lessons have been learned.”

Panellists are set to include Marilyn Wright, Head of Human Resources and Facilities at One North East; John Leopold, Deputy Director and Professor of Human Resources Management at Newcastle University Business School, and Ian Broadley, IT Project Manager BT. The event will be chaired by Spark Magazine journalist Andy Coyne who will be looking to challenge the panel on their deliberations.
