Sunderland gambles with Tombola
Sunderland AFC will continue to endorse online gambling after signing a two-year sponsorship deal with Britain’s most popular bingo site.
With Premiership safety waiting in the wings, the logo of Tombola will now adorne Sunderland’s home and away kit for the next two campaigns.
The deal will also include branding within the Stadium of light after Tombola confirmed they would replace the club’s current sponsorship agreement with Irish bookmaker Boylesports at the end of the season.
Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn, said: “We are thrilled to be joining forces with Tombola at what is a really exciting time in our football club’s journey.
“The company’s headquarters are in Sunderland so they know exactly what the club and the city are all about and we are excited by the possibilities this partnership offers to us both.”
After a disappointing defeat to West Ham at Upton Park last Saturday, Sunderland find themselves lodged in 13th place but have an 11 point safety cushion from the dreaded relegation zone, with four games left to play.
Sunderland AFC marketing and commercial director, Lesley Callaghan, has said Tombola has joined the club just at the right time as it looks to consolidate it’s league position and build for the future.
She said: ““This is a very attractive deal for the club from a commercial perspective and in turn we are sure that by working together we can help tombola to realise their aims and ambitions for their company.
“Tombola is already a hugely successful organisation and we are sure that the partnership with this club will help introduce the company to a much wider audience through the fantastic global reach of top flight football.”
