Boom time for fireworks firm
A FIREWORKS firm has pumped £35,000 into new cutting-edge firing systems as it looks to ignite its activity throughout the UK.
Reaction Fireworks, based in County Durham, has also enjoyed annual turnover of £750,000 and celebrated its success with a trade trip to the Hunan Province in China to find some of the World’s most advanced fireworks.
Adam Hillary, director of Reaction Fireworks, said: “We’ve invested £35,000 in computerised firing systems to comply with the modern fireworks we’ve been looking at in China.
“We want to embrace new technologies and allow the company to grow. With the technology we have we can release our fireworks a split second apart so that we can create runs of fireworks in rapid succession, this creates an amazing wave affect.
“Because we can computerise the firing of our fireworks we have the chance to stay ahead of our competitors and give our customers something different for their events.”
The business, which has traded for nearly 25 years, has placed orders in China worth £50,000 and is looking forward to competing in the national final of the British National Firework Championships this year, having won in 2004 and 2006.
The company, which employs four full-time staff, has said it wants to develop a number of its own products with the help of both Chinese and home grown technicians.
Mr. Hillary added: “We have 30 technicians in the North East that run our displays and we’ve also been working closely with Chinese technicians to come up with new products, colours and effects that will be unique to our business.
“The decline in fireworks sales in the corporate market did have an affect on the business but the company overall is performing well and we’re looking forward to the future.”
Reaction Fireworks has been commissioned in the past to provide displays for the Silverstone F1 Grand Prix Ball and the farewell celebrations of the QE2.
It also organises regular events and concerts throughout the region.
