Putting regional rivalries to the test
A TEAM of entrepreneurs representing Darlington and the Tees Valley will be taking on their counterparts from County Durham, Tyne and Wear and Northumberland at Rockliffe Hall.
The golf day is the latest Mixing Business With Leisure event hosted by the Entrepreneurs’ Forum, allowing business people to meet, share experiences, make contacts and most of all enjoy a day away from the office.
Forty golfers from around the region are due to play the 18-hole test on August 19.
Colum Smith, head of development at the Entrepreneurs’ Forum, said: “In anticipation of the 2010 Ryder Cup we thought we’d stage our own North versus South competition, drawing on entrepreneurs’ naturally competitive spirits.
“The match is being set at one of Europe’s longest and most challenging courses and it promises to be an exhilarating day for all our players.”
There will be prizes up for grabs – a longest drive competition sponsored by Close House Hotel, a nearest the pin contest sponsored by Bond Solutions and an overall winner’s trophy supplied by Awards Online.
Carlton Office Systems is the ball sponsor, Awards Online are sponsoring and supplying the trophy and pictures of the day will appear on-line courtesy of Critical Tortoise.
Mr Smith said: “Players could end up being alongside their next big customer, a future supplier, an official they’ve been trying to contact or just a fellow entrepreneur to talk to in a relaxed, social atmosphere.”
