Jobs safeguarded amid winds of change
NEW funding has helped a building services firm safeguard 56 jobs and create 27 new ones.
HLA Services Ltd, which employs 56 people and was based in Sunderland, is moving to larger premises in South Tyneside, on the back of £100,000 in investment.
One North East has offered the company a Grant for Business Investment, which helped finance the move from its base at Riverside Industrial Estate to a new 511sq ft factory in Boldon.
HLA Services Ltd, which was advised on the grant by corporate finance specialist unw, was created in 2003 and designs, assembles, installs and maintains a range of air conditioning, refrigeration, heating and ventilation systems for the industrial and commercial sectors.
The company also provides plumbing, L8 (water treatment and hygiene), electrical and local exhaust ventilation (LEV) services.
The company was based in five separate units at Riverside and the move to Boldon allowed it to bring all elements of the business together under one roof.
Neil Henry, Service Director of HLA said: “In recent years HLA has gone from strength to strength and this move ensures we are in a prime position to continue our development.
“This £500,000 expansion and relocation project will allow the company to move to the next level and the additional staff will help us explore new markets as well as further improve service to our existing customer base.”
In its seven years in the region, HLA has developed a strong list of business clients which include Calsonic Kansei, Akzo Nobel, Unipress and Walker Snack Foods.
One North East Director of Business and Industry, Ian Williams, said: “HLA is an excellent company that specialises in a number of fields and I am pleased that the agency has been able to support its expansion into a new and more suitable base.
