Brits do not wake up properly until 10am

SLEEPY BRITONS do not wake-up fully until around 10am every morning, a study has found.

Despite getting out of bed at an average time of 6.40am, eight in ten admit they do not feel properly awake for hours, with the average adult only feeling 100 per cent alert at 9.55am.

Worryingly, almost three quarters admit there are some days when they don’t ever feel completely with it.

Tina Withington from Philips Wake-Up Light, which carried out the study, said: ’‘It’s one thing to actually get out of bed when your alarm goes off, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you feel ready to go.

’’When you get woken up suddenly, it can take a while for your body to get going.

’‘It seems many aren’t actually feeling properly awake until long after they have got into work, which isn’t what our bosses want to hear.

’‘It’s only going to get worse as well with the dark mornings around the corner as I’m sure many people find it easier to get going on a sunny morning when they’ve woken up with sunlight, rather than a dark, cold and wet day.’’

The study of 3,000 Brits also revealed 39 per cent of workers have been late for work within the past year because it took them so long to get ready in the morning with 16 minutes being the average lateness.
