40 jobs to be lost at North East college
ONE of the region’s colleges is to shed 40 staff due to a reduction in government funding.
Stockton Riverside College will cut 30 support staff posts and 10 teaching roles.
The College has seen numbers increase in recent years but is now in the process of making efficient savings.
A spokesperson for the college said they hope to keep ‘redundancies to a minimum’.
Alan Pilkington, Deputy Principal for Planning and Corporate Services at Stockton Riverside College, said: “Stockton Riverside College has had a sustained period of growth over the past seven years including the development of new college facilities and an increasing number of learners.
“Due to a reduction in government funding the college is now in the process of making efficiency savings.
We are planning for a reduction in staffing in the region of 30 support roles and 10 teaching posts but as we work towards a finalised structure staff are being kept informed.“
