North East manufacturing firm eyes Chinese market
A Northumberland-based company is hoping to open the “Gateway for Global Growth” by developing plans for expansion in China.
Miller UK, which has its main site in Cramlington, manufactures buckets, quick couplers and other attachments for earthmoving equipment, and already exports its products around the world including the USA, Europe and India.
Having established a joint venture in North West China to manufacture its products, the firm now wants to develop its Chinese market and has signed up to the Gateway for Global Growth (G3) programme run by UK Trade & Investment (UKTI).
The company is now planning for selling into the Chinese construction and earthmoving industries, and hopes to open an office and storage facility near Shanghai.
Jacqui Miller, Director at Miller UK, said: “China is now the world’s largest consumer of construction equipment, so if we want to be a true global player, we can’t afford to ignore the market potential for growth.
“We believe that China represents one of the biggest opportunities for our business over the next three to five years.”
