North East event to inform businesses on apprenticeships

A new event aims to give businesses an insight into apprenticeships, and how they could benefit.

Hosted by Sunderland College, the open week at The Teleport, Doxford Park, will provide information, and dispel myths around apprenticeships.

It has been prompted by Sunderland College findings that misconceptions over apprenticeships among businesses are causing a barrier.

Employers who already work with apprentices will be on hand to share their experiences, as will the team from Sunderland College’s employment team.

Dave Hall, director of work based learning at Sunderland College said: “Sunderland College works closely with employers to deliver training to help improve their business and delivering successful apprenticeship programmes is part of that.

“Apprentices can make a real difference but often business owners have misconceptions and don’t fully understand how they can really benefit them.

“This is a great opportunity for people to hear first-hand from other businesses and apprentices.

“The aim is to give the facts, dispel the myths, and help the region’s businesses find out more about apprenticeships and work-based learning.”

The drop-in event will run between Monday February 6, to Friday February 10, between 8am and 7pm.
