Newtons Solicitors celebrate growth and £1.04m turnover
North Yorkshire-based solicitor, Newtons, has grown by 75% in the last year despite uncertainty in the legal sector.
After being established in 2009 in the midst of economic downturn, the law firm in Knaresborough has increased its turnover to £1.04m in the last year.
Newtons started as an online, home-based firm and the company now employs 25 people across its three bases in Harrogate, Ripon and Knaresborough.
The company has announced its intention to expand further, and said it was delighted with its results from the last year.
Chris Newton, managing director of Newtons, said: “We are investing heavily in our people, systems and marketing to build a strong business delivering a quality service which the local community can have real confidence in.
“This is helping us to attract new work and we are also being contacted regularly by talented lawyers who see a bright future with Newtons and want to join us.
“With our current team, our turnover for the next financial year is on target to reach £1.2m. However, we have several new recruits and acquisitions in the pipeline, which should take us to around the £2m level. “
The law firm has plans to reach a turnover of £5m by expanding into towns and cities throughout Yorkshire, with York and Ilkley set within the company’s sights.
Property and litigation have been the most productive divisions for driving growth, while company commercial, employment, family and wills divisions are also improving.
Newtons said they are looking for acquisition and merger opportunities, while they also plan to recruit new lawyers, administrative staff and secretaries.
