New recruit is blueprint for success

A commercial law firm has appointed the first of the 20 new recruits its plans to take on in the next three years as it grows its presence nationally amid demand for its radical approach to business.

*particular, which is run virtually through a team of entrepreneurial, well-connected lawyers, has appointed commercial property expert Paul Cowie as a consultant, bringing its team up to six.

Paul first came into contact with *particular co-founder Matthew Rippon when they both worked at commercial law firm Watson Burton, with Paul helping Matthew to relocate and manage the house-buying process.

Although at the time they didn’t meet in person, five years later – at the 2011 Blueprint awards – they did finally meet when Matthew was selected as a mentor to Paul, who had entered the awards. ‘Home-Scope.co.uk’, the business that was the subject of Paul’s entry, is due to launch this month.

Having already been impressed with Paul from the house transaction and further impressed by his entrepreneurial talent, Matthew asked if he would like to join the *particular team, which needed someone with commercial property expertise.

Matthew said: “It was fantastic finally to meet Paul at last year’s awards and I’m proud to have him as a member of the team.”

Paul added: “The philosophy of *particular attracted me to work for the company. You get all the top quality service of a top 100 law firm, but in a flexible and friendly way.

“Having two young children and living in rural Northumberland this really suited me. I feel really welcome here and am looking forward to getting started.”

*particular was launched in 2011 to deliver expert advice and assistance to businesses in need of client-friendly terms and has since expanded its presence.
