Online Resourcing Social Jobs App
As the new Social Jobs Partnership Application was launched in America last month Facebook is being touted as the next online recruitment tool. There has been speculation as to whether the app provides enough detail and result breakdown to perform an accurate job vacancy search. As well as this, when a Social Jobs App user does find an interesting position, they are simply directed to the recruiter site to continue with the application.
Facebook is not the first to think about harnessing the power of its own platform to drive employment opportunities. Companies like Monster, Work4Labs and Jobvite have created plug-ins for businesses to advertise their jobs to the Facebook audience. Facebook?s new aim to become an aggregator of jobs within the platform is another way to attract candidates to roles.
“The problem isn?t the idea, it?s the audience” according to social experts at socialgirlworld.com. A small fraction of Facebook users are taking advantage of the job searching tools and the reticence to adopt a ?Linkedin-style? networking is down to privacy. Although the potential reach is massive, the receptiveness to the concept isn?t there yet. Employers need to recognize this and understand that a mixture of online media is required. Job boards provide an open platform for engaged and previously engaged candidates whilst social platforms are a great new innovation to include and use as additional services.
The question still remains, is Facebook a tool that job seekers would consider when looking for their next position? The sheer size and audience that Facebook offers cannot be argued, but should it remain purely social? Online recruitment agencies are especially focused on the job industry and if Facebook is going to be used for recruitment purposes then these organizations are definitely the ones equipped to leverage it ? the experts.
Managing Director of Online Resourcing, Oliver Adderley commented: “The key to online recruitment is balance. Although social is important, it is vital that it is combined with the right media! Employers need to understand the job board and social market place before making a decision.?
