Bradford youngsters visit accountants for Work Inspiration Week
A group of youngsters from Buttershaw Business and Enterprise College are to visit Bradford-based chartered accountants Watson Buckle as part of an initiative to help prepare youngsters for work.
Eight 12 year-olds from the college are visiting the Cottingley firm this week as part of the Bradford Work Inspiration Week.
The initiative has been put together by E3 Bradford, a business-led group which is looking to encourage young people to aspire to available jobs and raise their awareness of wider opportunities.
The E3 Bradford project has the backing of Bradford East MP David Ward, and is also supported by Bradford Council and Bradford Chamber of Commerce.
The students from Buttershaw will spend the morning at Watson Buckle learning how the world of work operates, what would be expected of them in the workplace, and hopefully inspiring them to think about pursuing careers in accountancy.
Susan Sedgwick, managing partner at Watson Buckle, said: “Bradford Work Inspiration Week is a really important project helping youngsters in the district be prepared for the tough realities of the world of work.
“By taking part in this project, and welcoming the students from Buttershaw Business and Enterprise College, we hope that we can help them to have a better chance of securing employment once they leave education.
“We also want to inspire the youngsters about to think about possible future careers in accountancy.”
