FLS supports record lending at Leeds Building Society
The Funding for Lending Scheme (FLS) numbers released today show that Leeds Building Society has delivered positive net lending of £197m in Q1 2013.
Furthermore, the UK’s fifth largest building society’s gross lending in Q1 was the highest in its history.
Kim Rebecchi, sales and marketing director said, “During 2012 and the first quarter this year, we have completed mortgages totalling over £2bn, well above our natural market share.
“Completions in Q1 this year are 35% higher than the same period in 2012, at over £425m, which is a record for the Society. We have lent £138m of this, over 32%, to 1,450 first time buyers and this is an increase in value of over 66% compared to Q1 in 2012.
“Whilst retail savings remain at the core of our funding requirements, and will continue to do so, FLS has supported our organic growth aspirations.”
Leeds Building Society has assets of £10.3bn (as at 31 December 2012) and 67 branches throughout the UK, Gibraltar and Ireland.
The Society has operated from the centre of Leeds since 1886.
