This week’s top Yorkshire appointments

Bdaily in Yorkshire reports on some of this week’s key appointments in the county.

PwC has appointed a new Northern leader for its government and public sector team [G&PS].

Ian Looker will take over the role from Roger Marsh this month and will be based at the firm’s Leeds office.

In his new role, Looker will head up the government and public service practice covering health, education and local government across the firm’s six Northern offices.

At Leeds Building Society, Tom Tinkler has been appointed as general manager - operations.

Tinkler will have responsibility for the Mortgage Lending, Customer Services and Collections departments of the UK’s fifth largest building society.

He spent the last ten years with the insurance broker Aon UK and, prior to that, had eight years leading servicing and operations within First Direct.

Meanwhile, a fourth partner has been appointed at York-based HPH, Chartered Accountants as part of the firm’s expansion.

Sarah Wearing joined the firm in 1998 at its head office in Bootham, York, after completing an economics and finance Bsc at University of York, to train as a chartered accountant and was promoted to manager at the firm’s Harrogate office in 2006.

Yorkshire accountant Garbutt & Elliott has recruited a specialist tax consultant to strengthen its existing tax department.

Sephiat Bolaji, who will be working from both the York and the Leeds offices of the accountants, joins from Ernst & Young in Newcastle.

Tom Underwood has joined Acceleris from London PR agency Blue Rubicon, which was voted the UK’s ‘Consultancy of the Year’ at the 2012 PR Week Awards, where he spent almost three years.

During this time, Tom worked for FTSE 250 corporate clients and major consumer brands, with a broad focus on high impact international, national, regional and trade campaigns.
