£500,000 investment delivers a new Dudley office for QualitySolicitors Talbots

A leading West Midlands law firm is strengthening its commitment to the Black Country’s professional services scene by investing £500,000 into major expansion plans.

QualitySolicitors Talbots, which employs 160 people across the region, has more than doubled its presence in Dudley Town Centre with a move to a prestigious new base in Wolverhampton Street.

The 8,500 sq ft office will house a mix of 70 lawyers, support and admin staff and will become the focal point for the firm’s highly experienced business services team.

15 new jobs have already been created as part of the investment, including the high profile appointment of dispute resolution and licensing specialist Peter Adkins.

Martyn Morgan, Director at QualitySolictors Talbots, explained:

“We are extremely passionate about the Black Country and the companies and people we represent here. This significant investment – one of the largest in our 185-year history – increases our ability to provide high quality legal support, as well as allowing us to introduce a raft of new innovations for the sector.

“Dudley will be the largest of our network of six offices and we’ve spent £500,000 acquiring and refurbishing the existing building, adapting the internal layout to make it fit for purpose and in implementing the latest technology and communications systems.”

He continued: “This gives us a truly state-of-the-art facility, greater visibility and the perfect platform to win new contracts both regionally and for clients who need national representation.”

The Dudley office of QualitySolicitors Talbots will be the base for the firm’s rapidly expanding business service, which provides owner managers, SMEs and national organisations with a host of legal services.

This will range from assistance with setting up a business and support with regulatory issues, through to business sales, merger and acquisition activity and commercial contracts.

Companies can also access specialist advice on property/HR issues, dealing with disputes, mediation and licensing resolutions, whilst a free business and employment ‘health check’ can provide firms with access to an expert to review their operations and provide initial guidance on how to deal with issues.

“There is definitely a big push on business services and we are finding an increasing number of SMEs looking to tap into our services,” continued Martyn.

“However, that is just one part of the offer at Dudley. There will also be a dedicated residential property team and our usual private client services around family matters, employee issues, trusts and estates and criminal offences.”

The Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Alan Finch, was invited to mark the official opening of the new office and immediately praised it as a ‘fantastic start’ to ambitious regeneration plans for the town centre.

“Having a well respected company like QualitySolicitors Talbots invest in the future of Dudley is great news and reaffirms its long-term commitment to the area and local people.

“We shared our vision for the transformation of the town centre with them and there was genuine excitement. I expect this relocation to act as a catalyst for attracting future inward investment opportunities.”

QualitySolicitors Talbots has six offices across the West Midlands, with Dudley being joined by Codsall, Halesowen, Kidderminster Stourbridge and Wolverhampton.

The firm’s turnover rose by 8% last year and is on target to reach £6m by the end of 2013.

It has developed a reputation for taking an innovative approach to legal support, including being the first in the West Midlands to open at lunchtimes, Saturdays and, more recently, to extend its hours for clients from 8.00am to 6.00pm.
