Job-creating Rotherham steakhouse venture officially opens for business

The Mayor of Rotherham Cllr John Foden and Kevin Barron MP have performed the official opening ceremony for the entrepreneur Jason Mace’s new steakhouse venture in Thurcroft, Rotherham.

Mace, who was recently voted ‘Business Person of the Year’ by Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce, has created 14 new jobs at the Real Steakhouse & Grill, the result of the transformation of a former pub site.

The new jobs include chefs, waiters/waitresses, bar tenders, cleaners and gardeners at the new venue, which can seat 80 people.

The former pub has been transformed over the last three months, after it was acquired by Mace, managing director of Derne Valley-based marquee and gazebo company Gala Tent.

Craig Savage, former manager of the Cross Keys pub and steakhouse on Hoyland Common in Barnsley recently became the leaseholder and he and Mace have ambitions to turn it into South Yorkshire’s premier steakhouse.

Mace said: “We’ve had amazing support from local residents, everyone is backing us to make this a huge success and it is fantastic to be able to create new jobs in the area.

“The launch day was a huge success and we have taken dozens of bookings for parties, anniversaries and Christmas meals already.

“This is just the start of what we hope will become a winning formula for a number of new steakhouses we will open, offering a superb dining experience at an affordable price.”

Since he acquired the site, Mace has invested around £80k in the refurbishment, with new furnishings, a brand new kitchen, rewiring, new windows, flooring, toilet facilities, replastering work and decorating.
