Business law firm DWF has bolstered its national commercial team with the appointment of Michael Mousdale, who joins the firm as a partner, based in the Manchester office.

A local government law, commercial contracts and public procurement specialist, Mr Mousdale has advised on a number of landmark deals in the public sector, including the London Borough of Lambeth’s Private Finance Initiative (PFI) - the first of its kind; and Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority’s £4.5 billion waste PFI project - the largest project of its type in Europe.

Mr Mousdale advises on all aspects of local government law, including governance and transactional matters. As a procurement specialist, he also advises on aspects including compliance, development of procurement strategies and on dialogue issues.

He joins DWF from Trowers & Hamlins, where he was a partner. Colin Murray, a Senior Associate, also joins the team from Trowers & Hamlins.

Jonathan Branton, head of the central & local government sector at DWF, commented: “This is a great acquisition for DWF. Michael is a hugely experienced and respected operator in local government, commercial and procurement law, especially with many high profile and landmark matters to his name. His experience and expertise complements and adds a great deal to the DWF team, not just in the North West but nationwide.”

Mr Mousdale added: “Local government law is fast-changing and dynamic so I look forward to working with a team that and strives to be innovative. The reputation of the firm is well earned and it’s an exciting time to be joining the business.”
