This week’s Yorkshire appointments
Grant Thornton, Richard Goldsack
Grant Thornton is continuing to grow its Northern corporate finance advisory practice with two further appointments, one of which is based in Yorkshire.
Richard Goldsack joins from EY where he spent almost 13 years having worked at its Leeds office from 2001 before moving to Australia with the firm five years later, most recently working as a partner in its M&A team in Sydney. Prior to that, he worked in assurance at Arthur Andersen in Nottingham.
Will Oxley, senior practice leader for Grant Thornton in Leeds said: “Richard is a welcome addition, giving further strength and depth to our Yorkshire-based advisory practice as we continue to build our presence across the North.”

Trumpet Communications, Jodie Balmer
Following a surge in demand for its services, Trumpet Communications Ltd, owned by Anna Baxter, PR and marketing consultant Jodie Balmer will be helping to secure new business in both Yorkshire and the North East
The communications and PR firm acquired four new clients in the first half of the year with another client contract starting in August.
Anna said: “I’m delighted to have Jodie on board as we really start to focus on growing the business and our team. I established Trumpet in 2012 with the ambition to grow it steadily on my own until such a time came where I needed more help, and that time has now come, especially on the PR front.
LSH (Sheffield) Tom Shelton
Property consultancy firm, Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH), has appointed senior surveyor Tom Shelton to its Sheffield team.
Tom joins from London-based surveying firm Tuckerman, having worked with a broad range of local and national clients including Land Securities, Great Portland Estates, CLS Holdings Ltd, F & C Reit and Grosvenor.
Tom will be working in partnership with chartered surveyor Tom Burlaga, who joined the business back in December 2013 from Sheffield-based Lane Walker where he was responsible for a broad range of agency matters. The new senior team will be overseeing the office, industrial, retail and land sales sectors of the business.
Tom said: “Now is a particularly exciting time to be working across a wide spread of property services in Sheffield and the wider region, as we continue to track a rising demand for commercial space across all sectors.
“We are a new team with Sheffield roots. Therefore, we have an extensive knowledge of the Sheffield City Region and plan to take advantage of the improving economic conditions, thus further establishing LSH’s place as one of the main players in the market. It is most definitely a great time to be joining the firm.”
CBRE (Leeds), Danny Latimer
The Leeds office of CBRE has appointed Danny Latimer as senior surveyor within its valuation team from Fox Lloyd Jones.
The expanding team has recently worked on large portfolios for HSBC and RBS and also provided advice on major assets including Thorpe Park and The Pinnacle, Leeds.
Turn Key PR, Emma Streets and Tom McCambridge
Leeds and London-based integrated creative agency Turn Key has made two senior hires across its PR and Social Media and Digital departments as it continues its growth trajectory.
Emma Streets joins Turn Key as PR and social media director from global PR and public affairs consultancy BLUE Communications and digital account director Tom McCambridge comes to Turn Key from Manchester-based digital agency, Fabric.
Both appointments follow the launch of Turn Key’s London office, which opened earlier this year and is headed up by ex-Communisis PLC managing director of creative services, Phil Dean.
Turn Key has made an additional 14 appointments across every department in both its Leeds and London offices over the last quarter, taking its total staff to 48.

Advanced Supply Chain, Warren Hewitt
Logistics firm Advanced Supply Chain has appointed Warren Hewitt to the post of operations manager.
Warren will operate across the Bradford-headquartered business’s Bolton and Burnley sites, with a key focus on a flagship account with a national manufacturer.
Mike Danby, CEO of Advanced Supply Chain, said: “Warren is a key hire for our business. His expertise will be fundamental to innovating with our current client base and pushing our operation efficiencies.
“The business is currently growing at an impressive rate, and we are determined to maintain our high level service for clients, whilst implementing new technologies to broaden our operational capacities.”
Hammerson, James Hepburn
Retail property specialist, Hammerson, has announced the appointment of James Hepburn, development manager for Victoria Gate, who will be responsible for the scheme through the crucial development stage.
James, who joined Hammerson earlier in 2014 has 14 years’ experience in the retail property sector and has worked on a range of town and city centre projects, most recently working for a retail and regeneration joint venture with Land Securities.
Throughout the development of Victoria Gate, James will work closely with Nick Fay, Hammerson’s senior project manager, who is responsible for the construction of Leeds’ latest retail space.
James Hepburn said: “Joining the Victoria Gate team is very exciting. Having the opportunity to work on such a unique scheme, which will bring a series of new retail brands to the city including John Lewis is a great opportunity.
“Recent events such as the Tour de France has been a positive reminder of how Leeds is making steps to becoming a truly global city. We hope to add to this by creating a superb retail destination with national appeal that is an asset to the region.”

Hull University Business School, Dr Katy Graley
Human resources specialist Dr Katy Graley has been tasked with helping students to develop the skills that prospective employers demand as employability champion of the Business School.
She said: “As Employability Champion, my role is to get graduates to focus on what they want from a career, where their skills fit the job market and the practical steps they need to take to make it happen.
“I’m really passionate about helping students to fulfil their ambitions and to get the job they desire.”
LCF Law, Caroline Rayner-Jones
A Bradford-based legal firm has recruited its first legal apprentice, Caroline Rayner-Jones.
Julie Davis, head of LCF Residential, the conveyancing division of the law firm who led the selection process, said: “Caroline has championed a very competitive selection process. All the candidates were very enthusiastic and committed. Caroline demonstrated excellent potential and we are thrilled to welcome her to LCF Law.”
Leeds Building Society, Mark Collar
Leeds Building Society is delighted to announce that Mark Collar has joined its intermediary team as corporate account manager.
Mark joins the expanding team, as the Society continues to grow its market share of lending through intermediaries, and reports to Louisa Sedgwick, head of Corporate Accounts.
Mark joins the Society from Defaqto, where he was responsible for banking relationships. Mark has previously worked for Santander in its retail division, and also Mortgage Express as a key account manager.
Louisa Sedgwick said: “I am thrilled that Mark has joined our Corporate Accounts team, he is well known and respected within the intermediary mortgage sector and will be a great asset to the team as we strengthen our growing intermediary proposition.”
Humber LEP
The Humber LEP welcomes 5 news board members including: Lance Gardner MBE, chief executive of Care Plus Group in Grimsby, Gary Young managing director at communications and IT services provider KC, Anne Laudage, a partner of C&A Laudage, a small business that supplies UK retailers with high quality German food products, Stephen Savage a partner at Wilkin Chapman LLP, and Malcolm Scott who ‘retired’ in 2012 from the commercial property consultancy he set up in 1990, ‘Scotts’, after setting up offices in Hull and Great Grimsby.
The new members were chosen because of their specialist expertise and leadership skills they can bring to make a meaningful contribution to our economic development working alongside our public sector partners.
The new board members are joining the Humber LEP at an exciting time where we are moving into a delivery phase with City Deal projects, European Funds strategy and most recently the £103.7 million Growth Deal.
Lord Haskins, chair of the Humber LEP, said: “We welcome our new board members who bring high level business experience and are committed and passionate about promoting and helping to deliver our agenda for economic development and growth across the Humber.
“They join us at a very busy and exciting time where we move into delivery on business support and skill programmes from our City Deal, European funds strategy and more recently our Growth Deal projects which are all part of our 6-year economic plan.”
Czajika Care Group (Bradford) Janet Wood
Janet Wood has been appointed as Financial Controller at Bradford based Czajka Care Group, which operates five nursing homes in West Yorkshire and provides home and domiciliary care to hundreds of people across the region.
Janet says: “Czajka Care Group is a long established and forward thinking business with an excellent reputation in the care industry and my role here is extremely varied which made this a very attractive career move.”
Konrad Czajka, managing director of Czajka Care Group says: “Janet has a hugely valuable in-depth knowledge of the industry and her skill set is a perfect match for our business.
