Harrison Pitt Architects adds to growing team

Lancaster-based Harrison Pitt Architects has strengthened its expanding team with the appointment of Jenny Etheridge.

Jenny joins the architecture practice as an architectural assistant after graduating from Nottingham Trent University with a BArch honours degree in architecture.

As part of the year-long industrial placement, Jenny will work alongside the practice’s architects, assisting in creating architectural drawings and surveys, making planning applications for new buildings and carrying out general administration duties.

Jenny, who is from Dalton-In-Furness, has landed the role as part of her progression towards qualifying as an architect. The 21-year-old will go on to study a master’s degree in architecture next year.

Richard Wooldridge, a director at Harrison Pitt Architects, said: “While the route to become a fully-fledged architect is a rigorous process taking a minimum of seven years, the two compulsory placement years provide invaluable real-world experience.

“We have taken on an assistant for the past seven years, helping to develop aspiring architects through exposure to live projects. Jenny has made great strides in the short time she has been with us and I’m sure she will continue to flourish into a fantastic architect.”

Jenny added: “It feels great to be part of the team at Harrison Pitt Architects. I have been working on a number of schemes in the housing and education sectors since I started and I can’t wait to get my teeth stuck into further projects.”

After completing her placement year at Harrison Pitt Architects, she will study for a further two years and gain an additional two years’ experience before taking a final exam to qualify as an architect.

Jenny secured a number of work placements at architecture practices while studying for her degree, including Cartmel-based John Coward Architects and Kendal-based Paul Grout Associates.
