Kirkham architects to build fruit distribution centre creating 10 jobs
A Kirkham based architects practice’s plans to build a two-storey fruit and vegetable distribution centre have been approved by Preston City Council this week.
The plans, proposed by Croft Goode Architects for Thomas Moss Fruit and Veg, will see the land at the former Oak Nurseries in Goosnargh developed to feature a fruit and veg preparation and distribution centre, with landscaping, parking and improved access.
The completed facility will create ten new jobs in the process.
Owner of Thomas Moss, Anthony Morawski took over the family-run business in 2004.
Anthony said: “As our sales and production have steadily increased and we have outgrown our site at Dean Warehouse.
“The plans, drawn up by Croft Goode, are not just about gaining more square feet: the development will focus on creating a more efficient business with improved staff facilities that has a respect for the environment around it.
“The new plans will enable us to grow and package our own herbs which I’m sure will be an attraction for our customers.”
“The scheme was developed through full consultation with the City Council.
Croft Goode architect, John Bridge, said: “We created a multi-functional, elegant and modern warehouse set in a rural setting.
“The scheme was designed to be sympathetic and make the most of the wonderful views in the area.
“We worked closely with the team at Thomas Moss to understand their operation and process.”
