Employment update workshops put spotlight on changes to shared parental leave

Employers, HR directors and managers are being invited to hear how significant changes to the rights of parents will affect businesses. The changes apply to parents of babies due on or after Sunday 5 April - regardless of the actual birth date.

Free workshops hosted by hlw Keeble Hawson on March 24 and March 26 will include an update on key employment law changes for 2015 and outline how the new shared parental leave system will work - helping attendees to amend their policies and communicate the changes.

The measures include allowing an employee whose baby is due on or after 5 April to share all but two weeks of her 52 weeks of maternity leave with her husband or life partner.

Employment specialists Barry Warne, Andrew Lightburn and Lauren Fulcher will present the seminars which run from 8.30am to midday on March 24 at The Chambers, 30 Park Place, Leeds and from 8.30am to midday on March 26 at The Royal Victoria Hotel, Sheffield.

Said Mr Warne: “We will give delegates an insight into how the new laws will affect businesses - particularly SMEs - requiring them to plan ahead for what could be up to seven separate periods of paid leave between the two parents.”

To reserve a place at the seminars, contact Clare Bowler at clarebowler@hlwkeeblehawson.co.uk or call 0114 2906230
