Abbey College Manchester consolidates senior team
Abbey College Manchester has strengthened its senior team with two key appointments to expand the leading independent college’s technology department.
Keith Burgess, (55), of Eldon Road, Irlam, will fulfil the role of Academic Database Manager while Richard Howe, (21), of Harrison Street, Salford joins the cohort as Student Services Assistant.
The experienced duo have been appointed to transform the college’s data management system.
Keith joins Abbey College Manchester from Beamont Collegiate Academy and possesses over 14 years experience in education, where he carried out the role as an Information Communications Technology (ICT) Teacher at TDG Training Services. He then moved on to Salford City Academy as the Data Manager.
Prior to his work in education, Keith worked as an intelligence analyst in the Royal Air Force. Keith will be drawing upon his experience to organise, store and access the college’s information to ensure a first class service is provided to staff and students.
Keith said: “I am delighted to join the highly established team and look forward to advancing Abbey College Manchester’s technology services.”
Richard joins from Mighty Micro where he fulfilled the role of Computer Repairs Technician. Prior to that, he was Information Technician and Data Manager at Furness School.
In his new role Richard, will develop the college’s social media presence and will act as a coordinator for the student data, attendance and enrichment activities.
Richard commented: “I am extremely honoured to become part of the knowledgeable team at Abbey College Manchester to improve the technology offering and further develop my skills.”
Principal at Abbey College Manchester Liz Elam said: “Keith and Richard are an asset to the college who join with a wealth of experience and we look forward working with them.”
Abbey College Manchester is a leading independent college in the heart of Manchester, with a fast-growing and vibrant community.
There are around 229 students at the college, located just off King Street, 75% of whom are from the local area with the remainder from other countries. Most students are undertaking A Level programmes with the remainder studying BTEC courses or GCSEs.
