NatWest Payroll service for SMEs launched
A new service from NatWest promises to free up time for small businesses by managing their payroll requirements.
NatWest Payroll is part of the bank’s Mentor offering, which provides consultancy and support across employment law, HR, health and safety and environmental services.
NatWest has now partnered with leading payroll solutions provider, Moorepay Limited, to offer an end-to-end payroll operation for small businesses which includes an additional facility to help manage Auto Enrolment.
A secure, cloud-based system is used to capture and process data while allowing employees to easily access online documents such as payslips and P60s. The service also incorporates a dedicated helpdesk providing advice from a team of experienced payroll professionals.
Changes in legislation, sickness/absence benefits, overtime and other areas are automatically calculated by NatWest Payroll. It can also prepare and submit end-of-year reports on behalf of businesses to HRMC.
NatWest Payroll also allows companies to include the requirements of their company pension scheme into the service. Crucially, the payroll software can take Auto Enrolment into account as an additional extra, setting up the relevant scheme within payroll, enrolling eligible employees and processing contributions and opt-outs.
Auto Enrolment has become an increasingly important issue for SMEs, as legislation means all existing UK businesses must offer - and contribute to - workplace pensions by 2017.
John Muncey, Head of NatWest Mentor, said: “This new service allows small business owners to concentrate on running their companies while we take care of their payroll requirements.
“NatWest Payroll includes provision for data capture, processing, distribution and reporting and gives businesses easy and secure access to the information they need while offering the ability to manage extras such as Auto Enrolment.
“Our whole ethos is built around helping small businesses and providing them with the support and advice they require. We know that running a business means having to deal with many different time-consuming but crucial tasks. We’re here to help with some of those tasks and make life that little bit easier.”
Mentor already offers a number of HR-related support services. These include People Checking - an employee background checking service allowing businesses to confidentially screen job candidates and existing employees, which is available by visiting www.peoplechecking.natwest.com
