Infographic: Business growth and employment in Manchester
Manchester was always seen as “the capital of the North of England”, and the “third city” behind London and Birmingham, but now it seems as though it is fighting that label and going for supremacy.
While London might remain the capital city of England, Manchester is now pushing hard to become the main location for business, especially startups and those operating in the technology sector.
In fact, since 2010 employment in Manchester has increased by almost 70,000 and the recent government initiative to create “Tech North” in the trendy Northern Quarter in the city centre is only likely to inspire even more businesses to open their doors in Manchester.
This infographic, created by Alexander & Co, an accountancy firm based in Manchester city centre, shows just how far Manchester has come in recent years and the impact that business growth has had on employment in the region.
In addition to this it features statistics and predictions on where the city will be in a few year’s time, with the Manchester Evening News predicting that it will be outperforming some of the world’s major cities for growth by 2020.
