Liverpool John Lennon Airport expects Bank Holiday weekend to be year's busiest
This weekend is likely to be the busiest of the year for Liverpool John Lennon Airport, according to the facility’s latest predictions, with around 60k holidaymakers expected.
The airport is preparing to serve 7% more travellers during the Bank Holiday weekend (August 28-31) than it did in 2014.
Wet summer weather and a wider range of flight destinations are likely to be driving forces behind the increase in business, according to the airport, with the most popular destinations expected to be Alicante, Nice, Palma, Larnaca, the Canaries and Malaga.
For city breaks, it has been predicted that Berlin, Barcelona, Bratislava and Lisbon will see the highest influx of flyers from Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
The airport’s head of PR, Robin Tudor, said: “It’s been a busy first half of the year for the airport and this has continued throughout the school holidays, so we expect this weekend to be our busiest of the year once again and up around 7% on last year’s too as the region’s holidaymakers take advantage of the convenience of jetting off for a few days from their local airport.”
The airport is expecting an influx of travellers in its arrivals terminals due to a number of local events, including International Beatleweek, Creamfields and Liverpool International Music Festival.
