Everton FC target expansion with new senior appointments
Everton Football Club have made a series of senior appointments in an effort to boost the strength of their commercial team and increase the club’s market share.
Matt Roche, Alan McTavish and Sam Lucas have been appointed into senior roles in the club’s commercial operation as it seeks to expand into additional territories.
In their new positions at Everton, the trio will oversee the acquisition of commercial partners and manage existing relationships, as well as implementing strategies to increase the club’s hospitality sales.
Alan, head of commercial partnerships, has joined from Watford Football Club and will work to enhance Everton’s commercial profile.
According to FC Business, Alan said: “The Premier League is an extremely competitive arena, not only on the field but also in terms of trying to attract and secure new partners, and Everton is one of the UK’s most successful football clubs with all the key ingredients required for commercial success.
“I’m excited at the challenge ahead and the opportunities in front of us and I’m keen to make my contribution to developing the club’s commercial revenues while respecting its heritage and values.”
Sam, meanwhile, has joined Everton as the club’s head of partnerships. Previously, he worked for the FA as a senior partnerships manager alongside brands such as automaker Vauxhall and Budweiser.
Before his time at the FA, Sam worked with Everton’s kit supplier, Umbro, for five years.
He commented: “The Premier League’s popularity and the international players we have in our squad show the potential of the club worldwide and I’m really looking forward to playing a part in the club’s future development.”
Elsewhere, Matt joined Everton in the club’s newly created position of head of matchday revenues. With experience working for Bank of America and local transport operator Merseyrail, Matt will now oversee the processes behind all direct customer transactions, including retail, matchday programmes, food and beverages and hospitality.
Discussing his new position at Everton, Matt said: “I was impressed by the strategic vision of the senior management team and its commitment to taking a long-term approach to achieving its objectives.
“Everton has a loyal and dedicated fanbase and going to the game is important to them. In my new role I look forward to working alongside club staff and the fans to help improve their matchday experience.”
Everton FC have confirmed that they plan to expand their commercial operations further with more appointments in the near future.
