£4m B&M Featherstone store to create 125 jobs
This month will see work begin on a new 25,000 sq ft B&M store at the former Crystal Drinks site on Wakefield Road, Featherstone in West Yorkshire.
The new facility is one of a clutch of new store proposals designed by Wakefield architects, The Harris Partnership, to achieve planning consent for the value store chain in Yorkshire and wider afield.
Allied to an 18,000 sq.ft Aldi foodstore and 7,000 sq ft garden centre, the £4m Featherstone scheme developed by Dearne Estates Ltd will provide a signficant boost to the town’s retail provision and economy where it is expected to generate 125 jobs when completed this summer.
Work will also commence on a new B&M store in Rugby for commercial property investment manager, Orchard St, whilst a £1.5m, 25,000 sq ft B&M store designed by The Harris Partnership for S.Harrison Developments was completed at Catterick in Yorkshire just before Christmas.
Led by chairman and former Tesco boss Sir Terry Leahy, B&M opened 47 new stores in the UK in 2015, bringing its total estate to 47 with 50 new store openings targeted in 2016.
