BLM bolsters occupational disease team with new partner
BLM, the UK and Ireland’s leading insurance and risk law specialist, has strengthened its occupational disease team with the appointment of new partner Laura Trezise. Laura joins the firm’s London office from Plexus Law.
Having previously been a partner at BLM, Laura has extensive expertise across the insurance sector including over 17 years’ experience in the defence of occupational disease claims for insurers and their policyholders. Most recently, she has specialised in asbestos related claims and in particular, high value mesothelioma claims.
Commenting on Laura’s appointment, BLM head of occupational disease, Nick Pargeter said: “We are so pleased to have Laura on board and to welcome her back to the team. BLM has a recognised, industry-leading occupational disease team and Laura’s niche expertise and valuable experience with these types of very complex claims is a strong and welcome addition. I extend a very warm welcome to Laura on behalf of the team and indeed the whole firm.”
BLM’s occupational disease team has an enviable reputation for representing insurers’ interests in cases for mesothelioma and other asbestos related diseases. In November 2015, Nick Pargeter expressed his concerns about misplaced expectation levels of general damages in mesothelioma claims by way of a personal letter to the legal press.
