Taylor&Emmet helps bosses bend to flexible working

Sheffield’s Taylor&Emmet LLP is inviting local businesses to a free seminar focusing on common issues occurring from the rise of family friendly rights.

The firm’s employment law specialists will demonstrate how organisations can balance the needs of workers with those of the business, without falling foul of the law.

‘Exploring flexible working and family friendly rights’ is being held at Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre on September 22 and will discuss tricky situations that arise in practise from requests for agile, part time or atypical working, how to accommodate competing demands and when an employer is entitled to say no.

David Poddington, Taylor&Emmet’s head of employment law, will lead the event. He said: “A positive approach to flexible working can be important in attracting and retaining talented employees and current legislation gives almost everyone the right to make such requests. In some cases, it can amount to unlawful discrimination to refuse, which is why we want to help business owners and people managers understand how to settle these demands and ensure fairness for all.”

Taylor&Emmet’s free employment law seminar will run from 8am to 10am and include an opportunity to network with fellow delegates over breakfast and ask questions of the hosts.
