Back For Good
BACK FOR GOOD
Andy Poole has taken up the role of Brand Manager at Crewe Volkswagen, returning to the centre he first worked at in 1998. Back then the dealership was known as L C Charles Volkswagen and Andy was the Service Manager.
In the interim years Andy, 50, undertook a number of roles for Inchcape including General Management and most recently as Head of Business at Wolverhampton Audi for Jardine Motors, before joining Crewe Volkswagen; Andy explained, “I spent over a decade with plc dealer groups, but I’d kept my eye on Swansway after they’d acquire L C Charles Volkswagen and I was impressed with the company’s growth”.
Andy continued, “Joining Crewe Volkswagen felt like coming home. Seeing some familiar faces, with the added bonus of being just fifteen miles from home’.
“Working for a family owned and run business, is completely different to working in a plc; decision are made much more quickly, there’s no long chain of command and no shareholders to think about”, Andy added.
Andy is known for being a very hands-on manager and keeping robust control over the finances, so much so that in years gone by, he was so horrified by a quote to repair the roof of the dealership he was running, that he bought felt and tar, climbed a ladder and repaired it himself; as his amused colleagues stood round watching, Andy disturbed a wasps nest on the roof and was stung multiple times for his troubles!
“I’m committed to keeping Crewe Volkswagen as the number one Volkswagen centre in the UK, as it has been for the last two years and I’m really looking forward to a long career with Swansway,” added Andy.
