Chef Francesco Mazzei to open new eatery in Islington this Spring
Celebrated Italian chef, Francesco Mazzei, has announced he is opening a new Italian restaurant in his adopted home of Islington this April.
The chef is currently plotting his new Radici restaurant in North London, which will boast a menu influenced by Calabrian cuisine as well as dishes from southern Italian areas such as Puglia, Sicily and Sardinia.
Day-to-day running of the eatery’s kitchen will fall to long-time Mazzei associate, Antonio Mazzon, who has been the Italian chef’s right-hand man for over a decade.
The restaurant itself will feature interiors designed by David d’Almada of Sagrada studios, and will include a traditional wood fired oven, main restaurant and bar, private dining room, wine room and an al fresco terrace on Almeida Street.
Ahead of the restaurant’s opening, Mazzei commented: “With Radici, I am so excited to bring the food of my childhood to my London home. I have lived in Islington for over 20 years, and I hope that this relaxed neighbourhood restaurant will soon become a part of the local community and a go-to venue for authentic southern Italian food in London.”
