North West Air Ambulance appoints Crowe Clark Whitehill
The North West Air Ambulance Charity has chosen Crowe Clark Whitehill to provide audit and advisory services.
The Manchester office of the national audit, tax and advisory firm won the competitive tender based on their charity expertise as the UK’s leading advisor to charities and not-for-profit organisations.
Vicky Szulist, Crowe’s partner who leads the not-for-profit team in Manchester, said: “We are immensely proud to be associated with an organisation which provides such a vital service.”
North West Air Ambulance Charity is on call seven days a week, 365 days a year, providing a team of pilots and paramedics via three helicopters operating from bases at Blackpool and Barton. In 2012 a doctor was added to one aircraft to deliver specialist care at the scene.
The charity was launched as a five day a week service with one helicopter in 1999 and has since grown to its current three helicopters and all year round operations.
North West Air Ambulance Charity attends over 2,000 incidents every year, providing vital care in the early stages after accidents which in many cases is the difference between life and death.
The North West Air Ambulance Charity takes advanced healthcare to scene and transfers patients to the best medical/trauma centre for treatment, improving their chances of survival and reducing the risk of long term injury.
Many critically injured patients would not survive without the service the North West Air Ambulance Charity provides. In addition, the service would not survive without the generosity of the public who provide funds through donations, fundraising activity, lottery membership and retail outlets. The public provides vital charitable funding to keep the service flying.
Peter Douglas, Interim Head of Finance at the North West Air Ambulance Charity, said: “As a charity which is reliant on donations to maintain our lifesaving work, we are keenly aware of the importance of robust financial controls.
“Working with Crowe Clark Whitehill will not only help to enhance the credibility and reliability of our financial statements, but provide reassurance to our generous supporters that their donations are helping to fund vital missions across the region every day.
“We look forward to working with the team, who will bring a proven track record of accuracy and experience to the role.”
