Blacks Solicitors rolls out new employment mediation service
Leeds-based law firm, Blacks Solicitors LLP, has today announced it will be offering a brand new commercial mediation service for both companies and individuals looking to resolve disputes.
The service will be run through Employment Director at Blacks, Iain Jenkins, who is a CEDR accredited Mediator (Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution). Iain’s initial background was in litigation before he expanded his practice into employment law. He deals with claims in the County Court, High Court and Employment Tribunal claims, as well as mediating disputes for businesses and individuals.
Commenting on the new mediation offers, Iain Jenkins said: “I am very excited to be leading this new service for Blacks Solicitors. As a member of the Association of Northern Mediators and CEDR I’ve had plenty of experience managing some rather challenging mediations in the past and I look forward to offering this service to businesses and individuals throughout the region and beyond. Mediations are increasingly important, as reaching a settlement before the dispute reaches court can save companies and individuals a considerable amount of time and money.”
Mediation is a common and well recognised form of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) which enables parties in disputes to negotiate a settlement with the assistance of a trained third party neutral facilitator (the Mediator). The Mediator is not there in a judicial role and will not make findings as to who might be right or wrong on a particular issue, but using skills and knowledge will help to facilitate a negotiation that may otherwise have led to stalemate. The process is confidential and the parties always retain control over whether or not they wish to settle and on what terms.
