Leeds law firm offers interactive training session for local businesses and HRs

With workplace disputes continuing to arise throughout Yorkshire, Blacks Solicitors LLP will be hosting an interactive training day at its brand new office in the heart of Leeds.

Employment issues can be financially and emotionally draining and take up a lot of time for all parties concerned. Earlier this year, the European Court of Justice (ECJ) announced its ruling on ‘banning headscarves’ in the workplace which caused quite a stir in the media and on social media. With further issues of dress codes, the gender pay gap and holiday pay, it can be an HR nightmare for those who don’t fully understand the law.

To help understand the fundamentals of Employment Law and put these into practice, Blacks will be hosting an interactive session led by some of the region’s leading employment solicitors with the aim of helping HR Managers, Team Leaders and local businesses.

Throughout the day, the course will cover a variety of relevant issues, such as: • The contract of employment • Disciplinary and grievance procedures • Terminating employment (including redundancy) • Unfair and constructive dismissal • Age & disability discrimination • Negotiating settlements • Employment tribunals

The employment team will be on hand all day to answer any questions about issues that a business might currently be facing and comprehensive course notes will be distributed at the end. Iain Jenkins, Employment Director at Blacks Solicitors, said: “This will be a fantastic opportunity for any local businesses or HRs who feel they need a better understanding of basic employment law. It will provide them with the best practice when facing challenging situations, to ensure that both they and the business in question is protected.”

The training session will take place on the 22 June 2017 at Blacks new offices at City Point, 29 King Street, Leeds, LS1 2HL from 9:30am – 4:30pm. Lunch and refreshments will be provided throughout the day.
