Plans submitted to build Middlesbrough town centre gym
The owner of Dundas House, Shopping Centre and Indoor Market has applied to Middlesbrough Council for planning permission for a new 12,000 sq ft gym in Dundas Shopping Centre.
Contract Experts Limited, represented by Middlesbrough independent commercial property consultants Dodds Brown, plans to locate the gym space on the first floor in the former Potter Club, above Dundas Indoor Market.
If planning permission is granted, Contract Experts Limited will invest more than £500,000 in creating a new entrance for the gym on Wilson Street, improving the shopping centre entrance and signage, and in installing a new lift from the 178 space basement car park for the use of gym members and shoppers.
The plans for the proposed new gym and entrance have been drawn up by Middlesbrough architects Logic Architecture.
The gym planning application follows the announcement that the Dundas Shopping Centre is 100% let, and the letting of 19,820 sq ft of office space in Dundas House to Middlesbrough Council for its new Live Well Centre which opened officially last month (July 2017).
“If planning permission is granted, this will help meet the need for public gym provision in Middlesbrough town centre,” says Richard Wilson, Senior Associate Partner at Dodds Brown and letting and managing agent for Dundas House and Dundas Shopping Centre.
