Social regeneration fund reaches £1.7m North East investment milestone
North East procurement consultancy Prosper has awarded £250k to its social regeneration fund, taking the total invested to help create jobs and support community projects in the region to over £1.7m.
Since the fund’s creation in 2011, landlords including Thirteen Group, Karbon Homes, County Durham Housing Group and Your Homes Newcastle have set up more than 50 projects with contributions from the fund.
To date, fund-backed projects have created over 50 permanent and temporary jobs.
They included schemes to provide employment search and interview skills training for those seeking work, and initiatives offering social housing tenants specialist advice and guidance.
Rod Brasington, chief executive at Newcastle-based Prosper, said: “We’ve seen a range of different initiatives launch over the last seven years which have helped a lot of people in different communities.
“The fund has, and continues to be, a great way for landlords to make a difference in their area.”
Cash is awarded as an annual dividend payment to Prosper members, depending on their throughput with the consultancy during a 12-month period.
