Accountancy firm Clive Owen LLP has promoted Alison Welch to the role of tax director.

With over 25 years of experience as a tax adviser, Alison joined the firm as a senior tax manager in 2015, specialising in advising owner-managed businesses and high net worth clients.

Since joining the firm, Alison has cemented her knowledge by completing the study programme required to qualify as a member of global organisation Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

Jeanette Hennessy, Careline Lifestyles

Newcastle-based nursing and residential care provider Careline Lifestyles has appointed Jeanette Hennessey as finance manager.

Jeanette’s career history includes work with a family-run firm of architects, Milligans Bakery and Cramlington-based Tommee Tippee.

Alongside her new role Jeanette is studying towards a qualification with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Chief executive officer of Careline Lifestyles, Rahul Sharma, commented: “Jeanette was brought into the team because of her experience and to bring the financial aspect of the company into the modern digital age.

“She’ll also be a fresh pair of eyes to help streamline procedures and enable us to take on more acquisitions. Jeanette is a very welcome addition to the Careline family.”

Gosforth firm RMT Accountants has scaled up resources by making ten new appointments in the business.

Lara Marshall and Suzanne Layfield have joined the firm’s client services team in assistant manager and audit senior roles respectively. Suzanne commented: “I was looking at a number of different options around the region, but as soon as I came through the doors at RMT, it felt right and the type of environment in which I wanted to work”.

Chris Ferguson and Chris Wray have both joined the firm’s specialist recovery and insolvency team, and Liam Bell and Chris Renshaw are now part of the firm’s technology support division RMT Technology.

Patricia McGuiness is working within its outsourcing team, Fred Anson has joined the business as a corporate tax assistant and Ollie Lamb and Olivia Nailon are both working in RMT’s audit & accounts team.

Commenting on the appointments, RMT Accountants managing director Mike Pott explained: “Activity levels in all our divisions are continuing to rise, and we need to ensure we have the right skills and resources in place to meet this demand.”

Dean Glendinning, Surgo

Construction company Surgo has appointed Dean Glendinning as its after sales manager.

Joining from a 16 year tenure at a national construction company, Dean will take responsibility for the management of ongoing after sales care on completed projects and coordinate contractors and site teams for required snagging works.

Speaking about his new appointment, Dean said: “It’s great to join such a well-established company as Surgo.

“After speaking with others in the industry and learning about Surgo’s reputation, I am excited to start my new role and work with my team to provide the continued level of after sales care clients have come to expect when working with Surgo.”

Commercial law firm Square One Law has appointed Mark Egner and Shaun Reardon-John as senior associates and Kieran Kelly as assistant solicitor,

Recently returned to the region from the British Virgin Islands, Shaun has experience international insolvency and arbitration as well as a range of international contacts.

Formerly at firm Watson Burton, Mark qualified as a solicitor in 2001 and has a range of litigation experience including property litigation and disputes involving issues such as contracts, companies, intellectual property, insolvency issues, and injunctive relief.

Nick Elkin, Matt Wragg, Sandra Tang and Kathryn Lee, BMC Recruitment Group

Newcastle consultancy BMC Recruitment Group has welcomed Nick Elkin, Matt Wragg, Sandra Tang and Kathryn Lee to its team.

Nick joins as finance consultant strengthening the BMC finance team. He brings with him a network built from his three years of experience in recruitment, working exclusively in the finance sector.

Matt has been appointed as senior consultant in BMC’s technology division. With 20 years of recruitment experience within the IT sector, Matt will support BMC’s clients to develop their own technology teams.

Sandra has been appointed as the firm’s new marketing manager, and Kathryn has joined as managing finance consultant with over 20 years of experience in financial recruitment specialising in public practice and specialist markets.
