A Leeds-based architecture practice has made three new appointments following a number of high-profile residential project wins.

Brewster Bye Architects has appointed Part 2 architectural assistant Tim Chesnutt and junior architectural technologists Miho Sugiyama and Jonathan Neal.

Cambridge graduate, Miho achieved a BA (Hons) in Architecture from Christ’s College and an MSc in Technical Architecture from Sheffield Hallam University.

Jonathan graduated with a BSc (Hons) Architectural Technology degree from Northumbria University and has spent two years working at DLA Design in Leeds.

Tim graduated from University of Huddersfield with a First class BA (Hons) Architecture International Degree, and then gained a Masters of Architecture with a Distinction grade.

Jonathan said: “Experienced in AutoCAD and Revit I’ve worked on a range of residential, commercial and education projects and will work alongside the rest of the team at Brewster Bye carrying out feasibility studies and creating 3D modelling solutions for residential property developments.”

Barbara Rollin, Christopher King, Emma Wilson and Melanie Parsons, Gateley

Gateley Plc has doubled the size of its real estate practice in Leeds in just 12 months.

The team has doubled in size, going from five to 10 people at present.

The recent appointment of a second partner into the team, Barbara Rollin who joined from Shoosmiths, has further expanded the capacity and capabilities of the team.

Further recent appointments include senior associate, Christopher King from DWF; solicitor Emma Wilson; and paralegal Melanie Parsons.

Real estate partner, Philip Gregory, said: “The department is going from strength to strength, with the growth in team size necessary to accommodate the growing number of instructions received and opportunities opening up to us.

“I genuinely believe being able to offer a national legal offering but that is focused on the local regional market is unique and will serve us and our clients well going forward.”

Laura Baxter, Begbies Traynor

Insolvency specialist, Begbies Traynor has promoted Laura Baxter to the position of senior insolvency manager.

With over 12 years of experience in providing insolvency advice to businesses and individuals, Laura joined Begbies Traynor in 2012 as a senior insolvency administrator.

Based at the firm’s growing Hull office, she was promoted to assistant manager in 2016, becoming a manager a year later. Previously, she spent six years working as a case administrator for another professional services firm.

Laura Bartram, Cooper King Distillery

A Yorkshire-based startup distillery has appointed its first full-time employee alongside the founding duo.

Laura Bartram has joined Cooper King Distillery as events and development manager to support the company’s rapid growth.

Laura’s main duties at Cooper King Distillery are managing a number of on- and off-site events, developing cocktails for the distillery bar and new releases, and assisting with production of spirit.

Co-founder Abbie Neilson said: “We’re delighted to have welcomed Laura to the Cooper King team; this has been an extremely exciting year for us and it’s fantastic to have Laura joining the journey.

“We were immediately impressed with Laura’s experience and she has already proven to be a real asset to the team, it’s a pleasure to have her on board!”
