Soho becomes first permanent UK home of Taiwanese fried chicken brand

A firm specialising in Taiwanese fried chicken is set to launch its first permanent UK site in London’s West End.

Mr Ji has secured 72 Old Compton Street as the site of its debut street food restaurant through leisure property agency Shelley Sandzer.

Comprising 1,000 sq ft of space, the unit will be the brand’s first permanent UK home following a pop-up business in Camden.

Focusing on the Taiwanese street food staple of crispy fried chicken, the restaurant will also offer dessert options and a variety of Taiwanese teas and beverages.

Samuel Haim, founder of Mr Ji, commented: “I’m looking forward to bringing my modern and sustainable take on Taiwanese fried chicken to Old Compton Street, using fantastic quality chicken and punchy powders.

“Thanks to Shelley Sandzer, we have a prime location in Soho which meets our needs and will allow us to grow our unique brand.”

Etai Page, restaurant acquisitions agent at Shelley Sandzer, added: “Mr Ji is a new entrant in the fried chicken market, and we are certain that the location we have secured will play a leading role in their success.

“The brand was looking for a premises that would suit office workers, students, and tourists, and our knowledge of the London market helped find this great spot in the heart of the West End.”
