40 new jobs for expanding County Durham flooring firm following £2.6m investment

An independent flooring company in County Durham has created 40 new jobs after investing over £2.6m into its national operations.

Connection Flooring, which is based in Shildon, has opened three new depots across the UK as well as expanding its fleet of vehicles.

The firm has spent £1.8m on the launch of new depots in Stirling, Bristol and Torquay, as well as £800k on 18 new vehicles including vans and double-decked HGV curtain-side trailers.

Founded in 2012 as an online business, Connection Flooring now has a physical store network across the UK, most recently opening a shop in Stockport.

The expansion has allowed the flooring specialist to hire 40 new members of staff, with more recruitment planned in the near future.

Nick Bisicker, Connection Flooring operations manager, commented: “Just 12 months ago, we were operating nearly half the vans and depots we currently have, and we were restricted on locations we could deliver to. The new vehicles allow us to offer different and better services through our own network, but we’re not stopping there.

“Our next target is offer deliveries into customers’ properties as a white glove service, which means the customers will be able to select a room of their choice for the flooring to be delivered into, making the whole shopping experience with us completely stress free and simple.

“We have certainly come a long way in the last 12 months!”
