Over £4m invested in safeguarding Middlesbrough jobs

Over £4m of support has been rolled out in Middlesbrough to protect local jobs amid the COVI9-19 outbreak and subsequent business disruption.

Millions of pounds of grants have been processed for more than 400 of the town’s businesses, with support for a further 900 firms currently underway.

Middlesbrough Council is in the process of contacting all eligible businesses affected by the government-ordered shutdown, including the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors.

Middlesbrough Mayor, Andy Preston, commented: “Middlesbrough’s businesses are the town’s life blood, and we’re working with them to do everything we can to protect jobs.

“One of our biggest tasks right now is to get this money out there to those who really need it as soon as we possibly can.

“Safeguarding jobs is paramount and we do that by helping to ensure businesses can survive this turmoil.”
