Get Licensed offers virtual classroom option to meet demand for qualified security guards

Get Licensed is offering students an online version of Security Industry Authority (SIA) approved courses in Security Guard Training and CCTV Operator Training.

With security-related jobs in demand as the government eases restrictions around industry and the retail sector, the UK’s number one course finder for licence-linked courses has responded by featuring a virtual classroom option.

According to the Recruitment & Employment Confederation, there was a 3.8 percent increase in the number of job vacancies for security guards last month.

The online courses offer a full classroom experience with real-time instructor learning, an ability to interact with other students and no set-up required.

The option also saves time and the extra expense involved in having to travel to a training centre, while students can take the exams from the comfort of their own home.

Get licensed has also welcomed an SIA announcement that it is extending a pilot scheme for a further six months to determine whether licence-linked training and assessment can be delivered remotely to the correct standard – allowing more employers and training providers to offer online courses.

There are more than 2.5 million CCTV cameras in the UK and the CCTV Operator course covers everything from the legal aspects of monitoring to the practical aspects of using the equipment.

The Security Guard qualification gives successful participants access to a variety of roles within the profession including patrol officer, site security, retail security, manned guarding and building reception. It also offers the prospect of career progression to security manager, supervisor, or facilities manager.

Anthony Milner of Get Licensed said: “As businesses and shops begin to reopen, we are seeing a rising demand for security guards and associated roles such as CCTV operators.

“Of course, many in the security profession have continued to work throughout lockdown, protecting not only people but property, especially those premises that were closed and particularly vulnerable to criminality.

“The virtual classroom is a perfect option for those who enjoy the convenience of studying from home while still being able to interact with qualified instructors and fellow students.

“Get Licensed is determined to promote the great career opportunities available within the private security industry and these innovative online options make these courses more accessible.”
